Will Artificial Intelligence Be Taking Our Jobs Anytime Soon?

A huge question on everyone’s mind. Is artificial intelligence and robots going to take over human jobs? People everywhere are getting more and more afraid each day. To find out that their jobs have been replaced by computing systems which cost 10 to 15 times less than the salary of a human. This is a scary thought for all people. But is it going to take away all the jobs? Let’s find out.

The word AI has become more popular in the past few years. But it is a term that was invented a long time ago. Back in 1957 to 1974, artificial intelligence was what everyone was talking about. Computers can store massive amounts of information and become a lot faster. The PC which used to cost over 5000 dollars became just under a thousand dollars. A lot of people invested money into the research of AI.

The Competiton Among AI

As always, all the different countries started competing to build the first stable artificial intelligence system. The Japanese invested over 400 million to become the first superpower. And they did succeed in some ways by creating supercomputers that calculate billions of data every Mili second.

We live in an age and day where we cannot go one day without the Internet or AI. It is all part of the big data age. All this data is processed using AI to understand a user’s preference so it is important for the civilians to understand its uses and how much of a risk it is.

Many scientists and doctors have always said that new technology causes worry in the workspace but it also creates a lot more jobs. The main thing people aim to do is to remove the jobs that don’t require creativity or human touch. The manual Jobs or labor is what the AI is trying to take over.

In the past 2 years, we have seen a huge development of chat GPT which is an AI software that can give answers based on how we ask it. Now we can create images based on text and also videos as well. With the improvement in technology, people are not able to understand what is real and what is fake.

Some of the jobs that AI is going to replace are Delivery drivers, Programmers, Factory workers, and Graphic designers.

Delivery drivers

We have already seen Tesla and other companies build automated vehicles where we do not need to drive. Similarly, thousands of trucks send packages across the USA. All of these companies can save money by replacing with AI.

Programmers

Back in 1990, we needed to learn how to code to create a website. But now we can create an interface with just a click of a button. Everything we need is already pre-built. Chat GPT is slowly learning how to solve algorithms and problems using different codes.

Factory workers

The manual labor jobs such as filling up a box. Placing a single chip in a lineup, all of these would be replaced by machines doing it 24/7. All they need is maintenance and electricity. And the chance of human error is never there.

Graphic designer

We can create beautiful designs by just explaining what we need in the text. Slowly companies will be able to create what they want without requiring the talent.

But don’t worry, each job that robots on AI will replace, will create 5 to 10 more jobs for humans. And humans must get creative jobs that require them to think and not manual labor.

The future might look scary. But if you look at the starting stages of the Industrial Revolution, it wasn’t so great. A lot of people lost their jobs due to the machines in the factories. There was a huge among the community. But people learned to adapt, and more jobs were created.

What We Need To Survive

Nowadays, companies or not looking for people who have a College degree or some kind of certification. They are looking for people with talent or skill. That is most required so that you don’t lose your job to AI. Most of the high-paying jobs might not be replaced. It requires a human touch which cannot be produced by a computing process. And that is a good thing.

Unlike we see in the movies, AI won’t be some kind of robot that will physically fight us to take over the world. That is highly unlikely to happen. But what might happen is a lot of basic jobs will be gone in the future. The economy needs to adapt to it.

Right now, robots or at a stage where they can slowly move Like toddlers. But in a few years, they might be faster than us in every way. So we must adapt to the changes because they will come whether we like it or not.

Companies Already Using AI

The company Amazon has already started using AI bots to separate the millions of packages each day. This indirectly improves the delivery time. The people will be able to get the delivery on the same day. This is possible because of AI.

Even stock market companies are using AI to understand which company stock will grow and which will fall. The society cannot live without AI in today’s world. Once upon a time, people used to be afraid of electricity, but now it has become a necessity. Similarly, AI will do the same.

People are also using AI for creative works as well. I have seen directors and scriptwriters use AI software where you would need to tell a storyline. The software will analyze it and create a whole bunch of stories. We could choose the best one out of that. If this isn’t futuristic technology I don’t know what is.

Should You Worry?

What I think of AI is that it should be something that helps the human workforce and not something to replace it. When artificial intelligence is used to ease the workload and lessen the work hours for a human being, I call that a win. But we can never guess what will happen tomorrow.

One thing you can be safe about is, that there will always be laws to protect the humans and not the robots. These laws are to make sure that humans are never totally replaced by bots. So it’s better to find a job where creative work or thinking is more required so that your job won’t be taken over by a machine that was coded by someone.

It is impossible to remove AI from this world. The only thing we can do is understand it and learn from it. The jobs that require complex tasks and interactions with humans are the ones that would be most safe from being taken over by artificial intelligence.

All we can do is hope for the best. But we can’t deny the fact that our lives are a lot better because of artificial intelligence and technology.
